3M partners with FIRST® to help young people discover and develop a passion for STEM through team sponsorship and with the support of 3M volunteers, FIRST® LEGO® League and FIRST® Robotics Competition teams.
Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is the nation’s leading provider of K-12 STEM programs. Through world-class K-12 curriculum, high-quality teacher professional development and outstanding partnerships, PLTW is helping students develop the skills needed to succeed in the global economy.
In a longstanding partnership with the Saint Paul Public Schools, 3M's STEP program provides high school juniors and seniors of diverse backgrounds the opportunity to participate in the process of scientific discovery at 3M. Through mentoring by 3M volunteers, paid classroom instruction and summer employment in a 3M laboratory, STEP students will increase job skills, gain insight into scientific careers, and enhance their personal development.
Since 2003, 3M has provided $4.1 million in 3M Ingenuity Grants to support classroom STEM projects that enhance learning. In 2014, 3M partnered with DonorsChoose.org to broaden the program’s reach. Today, all of 3M’s U.S. locations can help invest $500,000 in local community projects led by teachers.
